Oh Canada! There is no place like it! I read this week “Remember when you were praying for the things you have right now?” My heart flows over looking at Jackie and Mike’s pictures, I’m so thankful for the honour of photographing their wedding. My favourite memories are seeing Mike crying at church, the epic dance party and our after wedding shoot two days later.
We’ve been asked for internships and photography workshops increasingly and so far we don’t feel it’s the right time for it. But if I may I would like to say a few things that might help. While driving towards the mountains for our after wedding pictures, I had to make a decision. The sun was setting fast and our location was still some time away. So I said let’s stop right here and than turn around to look for a nearby waterfall. As a photographer most of the time we shoot in unfamiliar places and situations that require to pay attention to light and not to be afraid to change plans. So my advice to new photographers would be to practice taking pictures daily like practicing an instrument. Learn to read light and trust your instincts.
